Woodwind

The 'Woodwind' family of instruments describes both reed and flute instruments. The reed is a small wooden fixture inside the mouthpiece, which vibrates to allow the instrument to create sounds. Woodwind instruments are played using the mouth to blow air into the instrument, while both hands to press down keys or sound holes in order to vary pitch.

Woodwinds are found in a rich variety of musical genres including Classical, Jazz, Pop, Funk and World Music.

We offer programmes in Bassoon, Flute, Clarinet, Recorder, Oboe and Saxophone - studying both contemporary and classical music.
