THE GUITAR
We teach electric, acoustic, classical and bass guitar! The guitar is a stringed, fretted instrument with 6 strings (or 4 for a bass guitar). It is played with both hands, one hand strums or plucks the strings with either a guitar plectrum or the fingers, whilst the other hand presses the strings against the frets in order to change pitch. The guitar can play chords and melodies. It has been used extensively in Pop, Rock, Jazz, Blues, Soul, R&B, Funk, Folk, Americana, Classical, Latin and Electronic Dance Music styles.
An electric guitar has steel strings and is used more frequently in Rock, Blues, Funk, Disco & Jazz music, whilst steel string acoustics are used more often in Americana, Folk and Pop. Classical guitars have nylon strings are are used in Classical & Latin styles, whilst the bass guitar features in all of the above! If you're not sure which type of guitar will suit you best, check out our blog post here.
