The Piano

The Piano was invented c. 1700 in Italy, and is one of the most popular instruments in the world. 

 

The pianist uses all five digits on each hand to press down the keys, each one creating a different pitch (note). The feet are also used to press down pedals which either sustain or soften the sound of the notes. The piano is used to play both chords and melodies and can be found in almost every musical genre you can imagine. Piano music is written using both bass and treble clefs, so the both low and high parts of the music can be played on one instrument.

We teach classical and contemporary methods for the piano, supporting our pupils through our own tuition books, popular compositions, songs and graded material. We also offer keyboard lessons which are focussed upon contemporary styles, utilising technology to manipulate the sounds created by the instrument.
