Strings

The 'strings' family of instruments includes Violin, Cello, Viola and Contra Bass. They're played with both hands; one hand pushes down the strings to change the pitch while the other plucks or bows the strings to create sound, meaning you'll develop expert fine motor skills and hand-eye co-ordination by learning a stringed instrument.

 

The bows used to play stringed instruments are made out of horse hair, while the instruments are usually wooden with strings made of a blend between nylon and steel.

Stringed instruments featured in a range of genres, including Pop, Jazz, Folk, Jig, Traditional, Classical, Country, Blues and Americana.

We offer lessons in Violin, Viola, Cello and Contra Bass, with a programme of classical and contemporary studies. We are also able to support pupils through graded material with ABRSM and Trinity exam boards.
